The month of December for Sagamok Education was an extremely full and busy one of activities as everyone prepared for the coming Winter Solstice and Christmas season, as well as the much-needed holiday period, allowing Education members to break for two weeks to relax and rejuvenate themselves for the new term.
For members of the Life-Long Learning Centre and within Education Supports, a lot of work continued to evolve towards preparing the new location at 717 Sagamok Road (former Biidaaban) and organizing the framework incorporated within Life-Long Learning programming. Many staff members have collaborated to bring this together over the past year. Infrastructure continues to ensure each department of Sagamok Education receives necessary supplies, upgrades, proper safety measures in place and practiced, and IT and Communications has collaborated with Sagamok Education the past few months on significant projects involving a new phone system installation and training session at the Life Long Learning Center, heightened security features and safety protocol at Biidaaban and Daycare, and the installation of advanced recording/camera/presentation functionality along with proper furnishings upgrades to the meeting space located onsite.
So many positive things are happening within Sagamok Education to help our community thrive and continue to evolve in a good way while being ever mindful of the ways of Anishinaabe and incorporating language, culture, history, and land-based learning experiences throughout. Chi Miigwech, everyone, for all that you bring to education and for your continued support and love of learning and developing the members of Sagamok.
