Biidaaban Kinoomaagegamik completed EcoSpirit | Grinch Week from December 2nd to 6th. Throughout the week, Biidaaban students were invited to participate in special 'spirit' days surrounding the themes of the Grinch and being eco-friendly, such as:
1. Wear Green/Grinch Day
2. How the Grinch Stole our Tech Day (tech-free day)
3. No Trash for the Grinch (waste-free lunch day)
4. Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (turn down the heat day)
5. The Grinch Stole Your Cup (anything but a plastic water bottle day)
Members of the Student Leadership Council gathered over lunch/recess break to assemble ideas for spirit week at the school; created poster advertisements and planned organizational strategies for the spirit week. This included organizing the calendar/timing events, informing teaching staff, seeking approval from the Principal, and communicating their unique programs and events to students, staff, and family/caregivers. Staff Members: Lindsay Lefebvre, Stephanie Sonnenburg, and Amanda Hardisty provide support to the Council.
Candy Cane Grams is a noteworthy fundraising venture the Student Leadership Council launched this month. The candy cane grams are being delivered to classrooms only, and sales were held from December 2 to the 13th. The Leadership Council has chosen the Ethan Eshkakogan Memorial Toy Drive as the beneficiary of this year's Candy Cane Grams fundraising venture. A separate article regarding this will be coming out soon. Check back at the Sagamok Education website at www.sagamokeducation.ca.
Miigwech to the Leadership Council for the many creative and engaging activities they plan for Biidaaban!
